Doing our bit - The Great Manchester 10K

If you’re local to Manchester, you’ll already know of a huge event that brings the whole city and its surrounding areas together to raise money for charity – the Great Manchester 10k. The roads close and thousands descend into the city centre to take part in doing their bit for their chosen cause. One of this year’s runners is Ascend’s property consultant, Rob Healy.

Our very own marathon man Rob will be donning his running gear and hitting the streets this Sunday 10th May and we couldn’t be prouder. After some serious training, he’ll be starting out on Portland Street and running all through Manchester and Salford before eventually finishing (or collapsing if he’s really tired) on Deansgate Locks.

Our Chosen Charity

Rob is helping to raise money for Francis House Children’s Hospice, who provide help and support for children and young adults with serious and life threatening illnesses. Based not too far from us over in Didsbury, the guys at Francis House really make a difference to people’s lives by offering a home from home service, 24 hour medical support and constant care to children and young adults who may not recover from long term sickness, as well as providing relief for their families.

Having been training hard for a few months now, Rob is confident he can finish the race within his best time as well as raise the vital cash needed for Francis House.

A word from Rob: “The work Francis House do is absolutely vital and I am so grateful I can get involved to help them in some small way. It hasn’t been easy but I’ve been training regularly and now I’m looking forward to taking part. I’ve had loads of support from family and friends so now all I need to do is cross that finish line!”

We’re so proud of Rob for taking the time to help out such an amazing cause and the least we can do here at Ascend is help him smash his target of raising £200 for Francis House. All of the team are behind him and will be there cheering him on at the finish line.
