Time for a spring clean! How to get your home "summer ready" As you will have seen on our last post, this is the time of year when it’s all about property. The spring months are busy for new instructions to the market – and this leaves the summer dedicated to moving, celebrating and hopefully settling into your new home. This time of the year tends to make us want to go on a de-clutter mission and have a good old spruce up of our homes (and our desks – you should check them out, they’re spotless!). Turns out, our instinct for a spring clean can actually help us sell our homes quicker – and even add value in some cases too! Now, we’re well aware that cleaning comes a little more naturally to some than others, so we came up with a few handy hints and tips picked up from our years of experience. So if you’re looking to sell your home and want it to look spick, span and shiny for potential buyers, then listen up:It’s what’s inside… and outside that countsWhile you need the inside of your property to look fresh as a daisy, curb appeal counts for a lot. Your potential buyer’s first impressions will always be the outside of the property as it’s the first thing they see, so do what you can to make them fall in love before they even step through the door. Whether that means sweeping the path, tidying the garden or giving the front door a lick of paint, it all makes a difference! No room for hoardingIt may seem like we’re stating the obvious, but a buyer will generally struggle to see themselves in a home that is filled with another person’s possessions. Now we’re not talking about having a full-on clear out of everything you own, but consider the little knick-knacks and other items that may clutter up your home. Try putting some of your smaller trinkets in a box and stash it somewhere hidden, such as under the bed or in a wardrobe, to give the place a more polished look. It’s the little thingsWhen it comes to a deep clean, you need to think about the unthinkable. The places you never think to clean because you never think anyone will look. Now is the time your home will go under a microscope. No need to panic though, once you get going with that dustpan and brush, with a little bit of elbow grease, you’ll get it done in no time (and wonder why you didn’t do it sooner – those side tops will be sparkling, trust us!)A nose for property?Believe it or not, the smell of a home can sway a potential buyer when it comes to viewings! Some vendors have been known to bake bread or make fresh pots of coffee ahead of a buyer arriving as it’s believed these can make a home seem more attractive (free food would always guarantee to win round our A-Team). We’re not suggesting you go to quite such extreme lengths for a beautifully scented home, but even a fresh bunch of flowers could win round the nose of your new potential buyer. We’re so much more than just your average estate and letting agent. We always go the extra mile for our clients and customer service is our speciality. We’ve even won awards for it.
