Manchester - top northern city to live and work!

In case you weren’t already aware, we are pretty big fans of Manchester. It’s where we started to build our Ascend empire, where we go to work every day, and it’s where we socialise. Safe to say it’s a city that’s very much close to our hearts.

And it seems we’re not alone. Over the years we’ve noticed more people flock to Manchester whether it be for work, play or simply to check out if all us Mancunians really are as friendly as our reputation suggests (spoiler alert – we are).  

Whatever the reason, we now have official research to back this up - Manchester is the best city in the north to live and work. It didn’t come as a huge surprise to us of course, but we’re always chuffed to see one of our favourite cities get the recognition it deserves.

The survey totted up a number of factors, including average yearly wage, house prices and potential property growth. This helped the researchers to take into account where people were getting the best value for money (when buying a home) in relation to their wages – pretty clever stuff if you ask us.

Coming first for house price growth out of the top 5 cities, yet still remaining affordable, it’s no wonder Manchester is a firm favourite for so many city dwellers. As you can see, we didn’t quite make number one out of the whole of the UK, but second is still pretty impressive. And it still beats all other northern cities, so we’re taking that as a pretty big victory – after all there is some stiff competition out there!
