Manchester's Hidden Treasures

Many people choose to call Manchester their home for a number of reasons. The wide range of attractions, landmarks and employment opportunities truly help cement the city as one of the best places to be in the UK. There are some hidden treasures which those who aren’t familiar with Manchester may be unaware of, as each individual district can be equally as awesome as the one next door. Northern Quarter

An obvious choice for the list, but we could never bypass the eclectic Northern Quarter. Although the heart of the city centre is just a stone’s throw away, Manchester locals will often talk of the Northern Quarter as a world on its own. A mix of quirky shops, bars and cafes as well as the independent art galleries and music stores, the ‘NQ’ allows the perfect balance of high end and affordable for anyone who stops by.

Salford

Technically a city in its own right, Salford has come a long way in recent years. The relocation of the BBC and ITV studios cast a spotlight on the area and the visitors have flocked by in their thousands. It has a whole range of unique offerings such as the Lowry theatre and outlet shopping centre, MediaCityUK, The Quays and so much more. Not to mention a growing student population and budding nightlife thanks to Salford University. Trust us, you’ll not be struggling for things to do in Salford!

Ancoats

The recently regenerated district of Ancoats has grown in popularity, and it’s easy to see why. Originally an area of the industrial revolution, Ancoats now boasts a number of beautifully restored Grade II listed buildings. And with areas such as New Islington seeing beautiful greenery and waterside views, it’s easy to forget you’re just a short stroll away from the bright lights of Manchester’s bustling city centre.

Miles Platting

Also a regeneration area, and a bit of a hidden gem, Miles Platting is great place for those who want the convenience of Manchester on their doorstep alongside affordable house prices. Not only does it have the multi million pound Etihad Stadium and SportCity just around the corner, but the investment in the area has seen the new openings of shops, bars and restaurants, making this growing neighbourhood the new place to be in Manchester.
